A crazy past couple of days...

I'll just dive right into it...

Thursday is swimming day at the high school. It's mostly for one student, we'll call him R, he has Cerebral Palsy and this is part of his therapy. The aid who usually works with him, was gone for the afternoon. So I had to work with him, not a big problem. I had a blast pushing and pulling him around in the pool. We decided to get him and the others out of the pool, which is quite an undertaking. R requires to be lifted and is dead weight. We have a special Hoyer Lift to get him out of the pool. We were just getting the sling under him, when another student, we'll call her K, had a seizure over by the bleachers (she was NOT in the pool). K has severe seizures. She has a device implanted in her chest and keeps a magnet in a fanny pack on her at all times that will help start her heart again and stop the seizure. The teacher and another aide were trying to get her to situated, call the nurse and 911. Meanwhile, I'm still in the pool with R and the three others and another aide. We decided we needed to get everyone out, so if we were needed to help K, we would be able to and not worry about the others being unsupervised in the water. The next 30 minutes were a blur of getting everyone out, dressed, and back to the classroom while K was being loaded onto the ambulance. Whew!

Friday...was a lot calmer at the high school and nothing TOO bad at daycare, the highlight of the day was the Newsboys concert. This a band that I have loved since I was in high school. And they have a new lead singer, who happened to be from another band that I've loved since high school. Some friends of ours gave us a couple free tickets. (BTW I had gotten free tickets to the high school's production of Guys and Dolls. It was a no brainer as to what we would go to.) Ryan and I had an amazing time of worship. Of course the Newsboys were the headlining band. There were several opening bands. My favorite was Seventh Day Slumber. Their lead singer had a awesome testimony about how Jesus saved from a life of drugs and depression. To listen to my favorite song by them, click here. Ryan was really impressed by him and we hung around after the show to meet him and the rest of the band. Awesome!

Saturday (Today) we had a quiz meet at our church. So it was quite nice not having to get up so early and drive to one. Our church had four teams! That's amazing. My team had three girls. One of my girls placed seventh, individually. She had to leave before the tournament. The other two girls were able place fourth, just the two of them! Way to go!
