One of my goals for this year is to read through the entire Bible. I read a little from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs everyday. I recently read through the book of James. I love the way James just lays it all out there. Yet, I am continually convicted of falling short of the Glory of God (thought I'd throw in a little Paul).
I'm going to confess: I have some major issues with road rage. ESPECIALLY after a long day at work and I'm trying to get home as fast as possible. People need to drive faster, I'm on a mission. My language is not the best when I get stuck behind a slow driver, or someone I perceive as "Stupid". And then when I do get home, I'm seething with anger. I can feel it oozing out of me and that doesn't make for an enjoyable, relaxing evening.
Then I read the following in James:
1:20 - "...for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires."
3:9 - "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness."
OUCH!
While I am unable to make changes by my own strength, God can help me to change.

James is definitely a good book to read if you think there is nothing else to work on spiritually. You will definitely find something else to work on.
