Welcome Coach Calipari!

Well, well, well, well, well...

To say the least I wasn't surprised to see Billy Gillispie fired from the University of Kentucky. Was I happy about it? No. I think that there is this new mentality in college basketball. If the PLAYERS don't perform, fire the COACH. Makes sense doesn't it? Anyhoo, that's over and done, moving on...

It is now official. John Calipari is now heading to Lexington to coach my beloved Wildcats. ESPN said so. There is a funny story about Calipari: When I was younger, and would shoot garbage into the garbage can, if I made it, we would say, "Call Rick". As in Rick Pitino, then coach of UK. It was in a sense to say, "Hey, we've got a good recruit for you." BUT, if you missed, we would say, "Call John." As in John Calipari, hahahaha! He was coach of UMass then, and gave Kentucky their only regular season loss in 1995-96. When Pitino turned down the opportunity to coach in the NBA (for a million dollars), Calipari took it for half that. Thus we called him the "Half Million Dollar Man".

And now he's my coach. While I feel that we "slept" with him way to early in this relationship, I sure hope this works out.
