Facebook Surveys

There have been several surveys that have swept Facebook. They are essentially the same as those emails that have been circulating for a while, but they are on Facebook. Instead of mailing it out, you create a note. If your friends want to read they can look it up. But you can also "tag" a friend in the note, and that should prompt them to read it.

One of the most recent surveys was "25 Random Things About Me". The rule was if you were tagged by a friend in their list, then you had to write one and tag 25 of your friends. It took a long time for someone to tag me. Ryan was the lucky one, and I used his as a template for my list.

So here are 25 Random things about me:

1. I only like fries from Burger King, although I will eat fries from else where.

2. I would love to take my brother and husband to Africa. Forget Paris or Florence, Victoria Falls is the place to be

3. I say that because I lived in Africa for two years when I was little (before my brother was born) and went there for a mission trip in college.

4. My husband maybe a clean freak, but I'm a germaphobe. I guess that's the biology nerd in me.

5. I ran track in Jr. High. My specialty was the high jump... but I could only clear 4 feet.

6. I have survived a bout with malaria. And it is because of said disease that I now have a little brother.

7. I was in the Color Guard in high school and that explains my fascination with anything Beatles.

8. I received my first speeding ticket with three girls from a youth choir in the car. Needless to say they had quite a story to tell on the flight to Europe the next day.

9. I have not been pulled over in 9 years (knock on wood).

10. The thing I am most thankful for is my husband. He very patiently explains sports to me when I don't understand why they would call that play.

11. My mom is my bestest friend. We are so much alike and that includes looks.

12. My first job was on the paint crew at Olivet. My freshman roommate and I picked out our room before orientation and made sure it was painted perfectly.

13. I have been charged at by two elephants. Once when I was 6, then again when I was 20.

14. I'm fascinated with WWII stuff. It's the history buff in me. I guess having a birthday on Aug. 6th is the reason.

15. I love to experiment with new recipes. Much to my husband's chagrin.

16. Because History is all about names and dates, remembering names, birthdays, and jersey numbers is easy for me.

17. I majored in History Education and minored in Biology Education. I know that's a weird combination, but they were my favorite classes in high school and what I thought would be fun to teach.

18. I truly believe the teacher makes all the difference. My goal as a future teacher is to get kids to like history as much as I do.

19. If I could live in any past era, I would live either in the Renaissance or the 1940's. But now 1770's are gaining on them.

20. This summer was the summer of John Adams for me. I watched any kind of movie about him. Read anything in print or online about him. And I even wrote a paper about his wife, Abigail.

21. I have a secret dream about being a US Senator. But the dirty politics really deter me.

22. I love watching sports (basketball, football, etc.). But after awhile I need something different, like the Food Network, Discovery Channel, or the History Channel.

23. I keep up with what's going on in my friends' lives via status updates. I spend quite some time reading them everyday.

24. I was on the local swim team when I was 10. I quite when I was 11, because the older age groups had to swim two laps, something I couldn't do. I ran out of steam at the end of the first lap.

25. I could spend my entire life in the pool. Once on vacation I got in the pool after breakfast and didn't get out until time for bed that night, eating all my meals there by the pool. When I went to sleep that night, I felt like I was on a water bed, even though it wasn't.

I would eventually write another list, but I will wait to share that with you another time. :o)
