Murder Among the Mateys
Our Sunday School class put on a murder mystery last night. As you can tell, it was pirate themed. Ryan was Captain Redbeard and I was his sister, Sharktooth Brandy. According to the story our brother Toothless Willie was captured by the commodore and hung. His treasure is still out there and others are after it. I was having a secret love affair with Commodore Clearing, who would do anything to further his career, even marry the Governor's Daughter, Breathless Betty. Meanwhile, Captain Redbeard had overheard some talk of mutiny on his ship, The Jaded Jewel. He suspected his first mate, Merciless Morgan. Although I was the middle "man" in the exchange between Morgan and the commodore. Morgan paid the commodore money to leave the Jaded Jewel alone. Also, Breathless Betty had no interest in the commodore and he had no interest in her either. Mad Rose is a serving wench at the Salty Sea Inn, where the party was held. She was in love with Merciless Morgan, but he broke her heart and she was thus flirting with the commodore.
In the middle of the party, Merciless Morgan was stabbed in the chest and died. I warned the commodore, that if he didn't declare his love for me, I would tell the governor about his dealing with Morgan. Which he refused to do, and I promptly tattled on him. Also, deep down I believed that Governor Napier killed Morgan, the governor was under a lot of pressure from the king to bring pirates justice.
After several minutes of speculation, Dirty Wiggins (the man who hung my brother, Toothless Willie), presented the evidence. We voted on who we thought did the dirty deed. Turns out it was Sealegs Sam, the "merchant". He was actually a member of my brother's crew, as was Merciless Morgan. Morgan knew about Sam's betrayal of my brother. Sam killed Morgan to keep that from getting out.
All in all it was a fun night. Arrrrrr! Aye, aye, buckos!
