Quizfest... It's finally over!

For those of you didn't know, Ryan directed a major quiz tournament yesterday. He was asked to do it last year, when the former directors moved to Michigan. He was told that if he didn't, Quizfest would "go away". I told him "Why not?" That was then, now I KNOW why not. For the sake of my sanity, as well as his. BUT... we've done it once, know what's expected, ready for next year.

Even though we are completely exhausted, we did manage to have some fun. While Ryan ran around, making sure everything ran well, I was the content judge for one the rooms. (Content Judge is basically another set of ears, for the Quizmaster. Making sure the kids get the answer right.) Some of our quizzers joined with a girl from Chicago Northside, who wanted to quiz, but didn't have a team. They placed 3rd in the Novice division and our other kids didn't fair so well in the experienced division. There were teams from Illinois (of course), Indiana, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, KENTUCKY, and Kansas. I was fortunate enough to talk with some of the kids from KY.

All in all it was fun and stressful, a blessing and a curse. Thankful it's over and ready to take on next year. Thanks to all who housed teams (we had 6 teenage boys, and their coach), officiated, and volunteered.

Last night, our good friends, the Mantors, had over for dinner after all was done. Abbie said that she didn't think I would want to cook. Rightly so. Then, after Ryan and I told them of our executive decision to sleep in this morning and not go to Sunday School, they offered to heat up their hot tub for us. It was a great way to recover. Sleeping in, hot tub...heaven.
