He took The Cup

In my bible study, Jesus: The One and Only, I am coming to the end of Jesus' life on Earth. Last night's video session talked about the final Passover meal Jesus shared with his disciples and his agony in the Garden in Gethsemane. Here is something new that learned during this session:

The Four Cups at Passover, represent to Four I Wills of God from Exodus 6:6-7

1. I will bring you out. The Cup of Salvation.

2. I will deliver you. The Cup of Plagues.
*Note: at this time the father, or MC, would take a white linen napkin, dip his finger into the wine and place drops onto the napkin as he read off the ten plaques that afflicted Egypt during the time of Moses.

After the second cup, Jesus and his disciples would have had the meal. So when Luke 22:20 says "In the same way, after the supper he took the cup...", it is talking about cup #3

3. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm. The Cup of Redemption.
*Note: This was was Jesus was about to do. Outstretch his arms on a cross to redeem us from our sins!!!!

In Matthew 26:29, Jesus says..."I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom." He is talking about cup #4.

4. I will take you as my people. The Cup of the In-Gathering. Jesus calling us all to be with him to live in his Kingdom forever.
