Holiday Weekend.

So I've had a crazy last two days at work.

Thursday: Only had to work 4 hours. And again was in the babies' room with 4 babies, by myself. Came in at 2:00 and the morning teacher gave me the run down. Who needs to eat when, who needs to be changed, who needs a nap, etc. We have a huge dry erase board were we log everything. That info is then transferred to a daily sheet that is given to the parents, so they know what their kid was like that day. So...the teacher proceeds to tell me that one little boy was puking the night before and that he had a slight fever in the morning. But she didn't feel like calling the mom to come and pick him up. My guard was up for this kid. I gave him a bottle and he drank it right down, which he usually doesn't do. And he went to sleep (Praise the Lord!). Kid #2, gave him his pacifier after a quick snack and he was out like a light. Feeding kid #3, when Kid #4 crawled on my lap and started blinking her eyes slowly. Gave her some juice, and out she was. Played with Kid #3 for a while, til he started yawning. Put him in the swing and off to dreamland he went. That's right! ALL FOUR BABIES WERE ASLEEP AT THE SAME TIME!! And they all slept until their parents came to get them.

That's when the fun really started. Because, as you recall, Kid #1 wasn't feeling so well. Thankfully he was in Mama's arms when he threw up his entire bottle. None of it got on me, or I would have hurled. But I had to clean it up. Thank goodness, I was able to keep from dry heaving and what not. Ugh! I deemed my clothes "dirty" as soon as I got home. I almost took a shower too.

Friday: Between the shuffling of kids around and sending teachers home early, I ended up in the toddler room with between 5-7 kids. Several kids went home early though. "Kid A" came in at noon, during nap time. She fell asleep pretty easily and all the kids slept for over an hour. When they got up, I changed diapers and then took them outside for a picnic snack time. Makes for pretty easy clean up. I took chalk out with us, and our art project was the entire playground. I made the sign that you can see below. Well, "Kid A" became very clingy, which isn't like her, and she felt hot to the touch. But I didn't think anything of it, because we were outside, in the sun. After awhile, "Kid B's" diaper was smelling pretty ripe, so I had to drag them all back in to change her diaper. We all sat on the floor and drank some water. I taught them the way to drink Coca-Cola, "Sip, swallow, Ahhh!". They were pretty cute trying to get that "Ahh!" down.

An hour later I was holding "Kid A" and realized that she was still hot to the touch. I immediately took her temp, thermometer in the arm pit style (which means you have to add 1 to the reading on the thermometer). The reading couldn't go up fast enough. It was jumping numbers. Once it past 100, I was starting to get worried. My eyes about popped out of my head when it finally stopped at 103.1! Meaning her actually temp was 104.1!!! I ran to the room next door, ordering the other teachers to get the director. They could tell I was troubled and they about freaked out when I told them the reading on the thermometer. Parents were called and I tried to keep "Kid A" calm and relaxed while waiting. She did not like having a cold rag on her, but she did play with it, which helped a little. Mom came to get, I hope she doing okay.

If you could keep both kids in your prayers, I would appreciate it. Needless to say, I'm ready for some time off. I love you all. And...

Happy 4th! Love the Toddlers
