We always tease my Grandma Jones about her recipes. We tell everyone to enjoy the dish now, because it won't be the same next time she makes it. It doesn't change every time, but quite frequently. She tweaks things here and there all the time. Constantly thinking, "Oo, that would be good if I added (fill-in-the-blank)."
Well, I'm not up to Grandma's standard, yet. But I do tweak recipes. It's rare when I make the exact recipe. I usually leave something out, or add something in. Here's an example:
Strawberry Squares:
1 box of Strawberry Cake mix
1/3 cup of oil
2 eggs
Glaze:
1 1/2 tablespoons of milk
1 cup of powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350. Mix cake mix, eggs, and oil. Spread in 9x13 pan. Bake for 14-16 min. Mix the milk and powdered sugar. Drizzle glaze over the squares.
Well, I didn't do that. I didn't make the glaze. I used vanilla frosting from a can and added sliced strawberries to the top. It turned out quite yummy.
