Well, I think I'm finally getting better. I went to the doctor on Friday, and "it was what I thought it was." (Dennis Green). A sinus infection. And the doctor said what she always says, "Your sinuses are so swollen, I don't know how you are breathing." So again, I'm on an antibiotic and a nasal spray. I had a friend who just had surgery on her sinuses, because she would get infection several times a year. I hope it doesn't have to come to that for me.
Friday, Ryan and I went to Indy for a quizzing invitational. We stayed with his old youth pastor, Gary Gerstenberger, and his family. I had the most wonderful time there. Because I was still sick, albeit on the mend, I wasn't looking forward to getting up at the crack of dawn to get to the church for the officials meeting at 7:10. Ryan was the official, I wasn't. Renee, Gary's wife, offered to take me when ever I was ready to go. I ended up sleeping later than I had planned, and she told me that I could sleep longer if I wanted to. But I wanted to go see my quizzers quiz. They place 10th. Which is alright, as long as you have the Scripture in your heart as well as your head.
The final round was exciting! I liken it to the Red Sox being down 3-0 to the Yankees and coming back to win the pennant. The tournament was a 3 loss elimination. Fortville had 2 losses on the day and Three Rivers had none. Three Rivers only had to win one round to place first. Yet, Fortville managed to win all three rounds they needed. And all because the quizzer from Three Rivers accidentally said that the Shepherds went to Jerusalem to see Baby Jesus, not Bethleham.
Ryan and I ended up staying an extra night w/the Gerstenbergers. We got up early Sunday morning and drove back home. We made it back in time to go to church. Our good friends, the Jorgensens, dedicated their twin girls that day. Pastor had his arms full with a girl in each arm. And one of the girls decided to eat her dress the whole time.
Now it's back to the daily grind. We have a busy week ahead of us, so I'm eagerly anticipating a quite weekend.
