Last night when I left bible study, I left to rain, sleet, ice and whatever falling out of the sky. Great! That's just what we need. It made interesting sound on the roof of my car as I was heading home. The drive wasn't TOO bad. But I was glad to be home and snuggle in for the night. I felt really bad for Ryan who had to head back out in it to go to work last night. But he made it there and back safely.
As I lay in bed, I could hear it hitting the roof. I had mixed feelings about whether there should be school or not. On one hand, it would be nice to sleep in and rest today. On the other hand, it was a half day of finals and if we missed today the kids would have to worry about finals all Christmas Break and make them up next year. Either way I didn't care...until my electricity went out. At 4:26 am, I heard the beep from the microwave, followed by the absence of noise in the house. Yes, that woke me up. What can I say, I'm a light sleeper. I wasn't sure how I was going to get ready for work, with out lights, or most importantly, my hair dryer. And I was unable to get to a place with electricity since Ryan had the car in Manteno.
I woke up again at 5:40 and called the school's Sub Caller, Sue. She said that she hadn't heard anything about school being closed yet. She offered to get a sub for me when she found out that I didn't have electricity. Hey, I get to sleep in!!! Then at 6:30, I got a call from the school, there would be an hour delay. Then 10 minutes later, the electricity came back on!!! Praise the LORD! So I called Sue back and told her that I would be able to make it after all. She said to just take it easy, because they make cancel school after all. Which they did about a half an hour later.
So now, I'm still in my PJs, watching Ryan play XBox. I might still have to go in to the daycare. But that would only be for four hours. To everyone, I hope you stay safe today. Enjoy my pictures from the comfort of your warm homes. They were taken from inside my house, looking out our patio door.
